Textile Description

This is an antique European Swedish textile woven during the 19th century and measures 97 x 47CM in size. It has a horizontal format with three enclosed horse motifs set on alternating beige and blue background colors. This textile has been woven from 100% cotton and all-natural vegetable dyes. above the center horse with blue background color is located the initials BBD which most likely indicates the weaver’s initials or the person who had ordered this textile. the border of this textile is created using a polychrome zigzag design which creates a dramatic visual effect on the viewer. This piece has been preserved in excellent condition and has retained its full size and has been backed on a frame for it to be displayed on any wall or environment.
