An antique Khamse rug, south-west Parsia
Very good example of nomadic weave in saddle cover shape. The field with vertical rows of ivory and camel-brown of meandering vine and small rosette. In an ivory border of angular floral meander between camel-brown stylised boteh and rust-red ribbon stripes. Outer plain stripe. Very nicely drawn design and elegant shape. Good colour combination. Seldom found type on the market. This piece had good pile, soft wool quality. Selvages original, slightly fraying g on the cord edges. Ends with short fringes. In general, this saddle cover is in very good usable condition. Attractive piece. Woven on wool foundation .
