Textile Description
This is an antique silk Chinese imperial textile woven during the beginning of the 19th century circa 1800–1820s and measures 72 x 70CM in size. Its design revolves around the center medallion which is surrounded by large-scale floral motifs that are directed towards the center of the textile. a unique feature of this textile is that the field is divided by the border with a geometric interlocking line design which creates a square within the middle of the textile. the border follows the same theme and color combination of the field with large-scale floral motifs interlocked with a spiraling vine design.
At Mollaian srl we try to do our best, giving a new life to some of antique rugs with minor problems, that may have affected by age. So, apart from what is visible on the presented photos, it should be noted that the rugs are professionally cleaned, and where necessary, the Selvages/Sides and Ends/Fringes have been secured. Upon request, we can provide a complete condition report (including any retouch performed by our restoration team), if it is not already presented down below.
