Kilim Description

This is a unique antique Chinese Ningxia kilim with metal threads woven during the end of the 19th century circa 1900 and measures 206 x 138CM in size. This piece has a center five-clawed dragon motif, and the field is decorated with traditional Chinese motifs and many clouds all set on a beige background color. the border is decorated with alternating polychrome-colored cloud motifs which correlate to the field design and give the viewer a sense of being transported into the heavens. The design of this textile is seen in many Chinese rugs but being woven into a kilim is extremely rare making it a highly unique and collectible piece.
