Rug Description

This is a semi-antique Swedish pile carpet woven circa 1950-1970. It bears the signature of “MMF” Måås-Fjetterström (1873-1941) one of the most famous textile designers whose workshop is well known for producing some of the best quality carpets with traditional Swedish and modern designs. This example has a mixture of a traditional medallion motif designed in a modern fashion.

The field is comprised of two columns of repeating medallions flanking a center column of cross motifs on a beige background color. Its border is made using a light blue color with a minimalistic design that bears no motifs. The rug is made using all-natural pastel colors and is in full pile condition.

The MMF signature can be found in the bottom left-hand corner of the rug. The small size, minimalistic design, and pastel colors make this rug extremely decorative and easily incorporated in any setting modern or traditional adding a rare part of Swedish textile weaving to the room.
