Rug Description

Alfonso XIII, was King of Spain from 1886 until 1931, he was looking for an extraordinary gift for a man who had everything in his life. He came across this original idea of giving an amazing carpet featuring the cars that bear name of Louis Renault, legendary car manufacturer. He finally decided to ask this incredible gift from The factory of Miguel Stuyck, descendant of Jacopo Vandergoten, whose several generations give the production of carpets and rugs can be considered one of the most important in the world.  The Savonnerie technique carpet created in 1930 at the real Fabrica de Tapices in Madrid, developed in 1721 by Philippe V using artisans from the workshops of Savonnerie in Paris. You can clearly see taste of 18th century in the medallion and borders of this carpet, while the cars – an 1899 A type, a 1904 U type , a 1920 EU type and a 1930 Reinastella 40ev. You can also see Mr Louis Renault driving A type car depicted in this carpet.
