Rug Description

“Northwest” refers to a diverse group of antique Iranian carpets in more than a thousand weaving villages that occupied a large desert area west of Tehran, north of Bijar, and south of Tabriz during the nineteenth century. These villages often drew patterns from their surroundings and ancient traditions, creating a unique combination.

This is a runner from northwest Persia and it was woven during the end of the 19th century. It has an abstract triple medallion design with many tribal and geometric motifs spread though out the rug. The border has a basic geometric design and this simplicity was created by the weave to not distract the viewer from the complex and highly crowded field design. This rug has highly saturated colors and the white and black colored wool creates a dramatic color contrast.

This unique carpet fascinates you with its attractive color and special border. This rug has been woven using a cotton foundation and 100% wool pile. It was been professionally washed and is ready to be enjoyed in any home or added to any collection.
