Rug Description

An unusual, signed antique Kirman carpet, South Persia
Size, approx: 530cm. x 320.
The shaded light rust field with floral and inscription cartouches together with large central ivory arabesque and floral multicoloured medallion with combat cartouche, tiger figure at each end. Linked floral and arabesque spandrels. In triple indigo border of stylised flowering vases and flowering vine between ivory and light blue floral meander stripes. Outer plain stripe. Beautifully designed carpet, possibly woven on commission. Very good colour combination.
Very well drawn motifs. Apart of slight localised west to the pile, and scattered small old repairs, barley visible, this carpet has very good pile, lustrous wool quality. Selvages rebound, well done. Ends with short fringes secured. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition throughout. Very attractive and Great furnishing piece. Signature cartouche at one end.
