Description

This is an antique Ahmad Isfahan rug woven in central Persia circa 1900. In Isfahan Ahmad was known as most famous rug weaver at the end of the Qajar era. The border of this rug has a meshehir design with kings and important figures of Persian history their names next to their faces. Also, the border contains cartouches with poetry written in them. The field of this rug is a picture of an Arminian woman sitting in a field with curtains above her that form into a mihrab. And the signature of the weaver is in the center of the mihrab. This rug has some wear that is consistent with its age.
