Rug Description
This is a Bakshayesh runner from northwest Persian and it was woven during the end of the 19th century circa 1880. This rug is made up of 100% wool pile, cotton foundation, and uses all natural vegetable dyes. The field is made up of the famous herati or fish pattern and the weaver of this runner has executed this design with exact precision. Many times weavers tend to condense this design making it very busy and unattractive, but the weaver of this rug was aware of this effect and had increased the size of the motifs and the spacing between them.
