Rug Description
This is an antique Shirvan rug woven in the Caucasus mountains during the end of the 19th century circa 1880 -1900 and measures 182 x 122CM in size. its field is comprised of a large-scale lattice design with alternating rows of medallions and floral motifs set on a dark blue background color. Its border is made up of large-scale geometric floral motifs interlocked with a vine design set on a black background color. This piece has been woven on an all-wool foundation and made with 100% natural vegetable dyes.
