Imperial Antique Silk & Metal Chinese Souf (Metal Thread Field) Rug, 19^th Century. In this very elegant Chinese imperial carpet in silk and metal threads we find an all-over design without counter borders. On the base of the “bronze” colored carpet, a very refined floral design develops in a surprising and daring combination of colours. Lotus flowers, surrounded by leafy branches decorate the entire background, flowing towards the center of the carpet, where we find the “umbrella” symbol, which symbolizes the authority of the state and the protection of the state.
