Rug Description

This Saruk Farahan rug is from central Persian and woven at the end of the 19th century circa 1890. The design of this rug has traditional motifs and a central medallion seen in many Saruk Farahan rugs. In this example the center medallion is broken into four sections due to the intruding palmettes that connect in the middle of the medallion. These cream colored palmettes create color contrast sitting on top of the navy blue center medallion. This rug has been woven on a cotton foundation with 100% wool pile. There are some areas of wear that is consistent with its age.


At Mollaian srl we try to do our best, giving a new life to some of antique rugs with minor problems, that may have affected by age. So, apart from what is visible on the presented photos, it should be noted that the rugs are professionally cleaned, and where necessary, the Selvages/Sides and Ends/Fringes have been secured. Upon request, we can provide a complete condition report (including any retouch performed by our restoration team), if it is not already presented down below.
