Rug Description
This authentic Tibetan rug, dating to circa 1920, is a rare and specialized example of Himalayan monastic craftsmanship, likely originally serving as a section of a longer temple runner used by monks for meditation. Its value and uniqueness are defined by its 100% hand-spun wool construction and its profound spiritual iconography; the medium-blue field features four central rosettes symbolizing growth, framed by “key-pattern” meanders that represent eternal life and continuity. Despite being over a century old, the piece remains in a good condition, featuring a soft patina and professional cleaning that has preserved the natural luster of its vegetable-dyed fibers. This 59 x 55 cm mat represents a significant investment as a “fragment of history” that functions equally well as a floor focal point or a piece of wall-mounted textile art.
