Textile Description

This is an antique Swedish textile woven during the 19th century and measures 120 x 48CM in size. this piece has a horizontal design with three diamond motifs that are decorated with blossoming shrub motifs set on a black background color. In each of the corners of the diamonds are located Different types of floral motifs which are in mid blossom. A unique feature of this textile is that the border and the outlines of the diamonds are created using a pile technique which gives this textile a 3D perspective and it’s a very rare feature within Swedish textile productions. This piece is in excellent condition and has been backed and mounted for preservation and display purposes.
