This is an Afshar from southwest Persia woven during the 1890s. It has an allover highly geometric design that is indicative of Afshar rugs. It has a colorful barber’s pole border and the ivory outermost border boosts the colors of the carpet and creates color contrast. This rug has been woven on a wool foundation with 100% wool pile and is made using all-natural vegetable dyes. There are some areas of wear that is completely consistent with its age.
